( A P P R O X . 1 7 \" B Y 1 4 \" )Reflector lamps became extremely popular after the 1951
MOMA sponsored lighting competition. Many of the entries and winners
used light reflection as the central design of their lamps.
Reflecting light was all about control! Controlling light was
a mantra with lighting architects and controlled light
permitted interior designers the tools to make any decor
more inviting and attractive. Designers and decorators
understood - light is the most important decoration in any interior!This reflector swings in two directions and allows light to be
reflected on either side of the lamp or onto a wall when tilted
into a nearly vertical position. This early 1950 lamp is solid steel!
Later reflectors would feature aluminum - but did not hold
up as well because aluminum bends and dents easier.
This lamp has survived very well with only some scratches
and light wear to the shade. The base has some scratches near
the turn switch. The brass neck has some tarnish.
The lamp works as it should and features
a turn switch to turn on a single socket in the body.An iconic design that typifies the mid century modern
