Exceptional - RARE - unique outstanding Victorian fruit stand / centerpiece. Meriden Quadruple silver plate. The base and glass have fancy detail everywhere. Frosted glass insert has scalloped edge with cut glass around the top edge, normal bubbles from when it was made, roses flowers etched in garlands. It fits securely in \'well\' in metal base per a \'nub\' which sticks out from the bottom of the glass insert. Base has various levels of details: pelican crane, owls, bug beetle, squirrel, swirls, flowers, various designs everywhere - \'fan / spoke / beads\' on the arms - too much to list! - - - - - SEE PHOTOS - - - - The frosted glass insert sits VERY slightly \'crooked\' . . . . which is how it\'s been since I purchased it about 35 years ago . . does NOT detract from the beauty of this piece. I usually had real or authentic-looking fruit in it. Marked on bottom: Meriden Silver Plate Co - Quadruple Plate - 0729. - - Measurements: 15\" wide X 8\" tall X 10 1/4\" (diameter of glass insert).
