RARE Number 8 Turquoise Sterling Silver Cuff Bracelet Navajo Native American:
$1000.00

Up for offerding is a GORGEOUS and rare original Navajo Number Eight Turquoise Cuff/Bracelet, circa earlier 1900s (not 100% sure, but similar ones I have seen by established dealers list theirs in the 1940s for signed pieces. This one being unsigned may mean it\'s older). This is a one of a kind bracelet, not easy to come by, and highly valuable due to a number of reasons. Today Number 8 turquoise is one of the most valuable stones that can be collected and one of the most beautiful that can be used in jewelry. High-grade Number 8 turquoise is by far some of the finest turquoise to ever have come out of Nevada. The three large stones on this cuff are in exquisite shape- flawlessly cut and shaped. You will not come across these often to add to your collection!First, a little background:
In the mid 1800s silver making was introduced to the Navajo Indians by their Mexican neighbors. They took their new skill and mastered it, creating a style that today is recognized around the world as Navajo. The Navajo would then teach their Zuni neighbors and later the Hopi would learn, making the Southwest known for silver art. These early smiths did things different then today’s artists. Working conditions and tools were very primitive- This is a time with no electricity on the Reservations and scarce materials. Also, in the beginning silver was made and traded locally, no tourist trade, yet. A silversmith was looked at with great esteem and jewelry was a sign of wealth. This bracelet is from the era BEFORE these bracelets were commonly traded and sold to tourists. It is unmarked and unsigned. Some specific details about the one in the pictures that I am selling:
