Up for sale is an exceptionally RARE ORIGINAL Framed Drawing with Brown Wash of Civil War Union Navy Sailorboy draped in a US Flag. It is in excellent condition, titled, \"In sight of land\" on the lower margin and signed (lower middle right) by C.F. Folger and is dated 1880. On the back is a note that details this information as shown in the photos. It comes archivally framed and ready to hang with what appears to be an original period frame with hand blown wavy style glass which is flawless and a musuem quality mount with matte for preservation and display. This is a really neat original piece, possibly by a relative of Rear Admiral William Folger who served in the US Navy during the Civil War.
Measures approximately 11 1/4\" x 9\" in frame with the drawing itself at 5\" x 3 1/8\" sight size. The painting is a primitive and interesting piece of folk art, worthy of a museum and would look outstanding in any collection. This is a very rare original oil drawing that was probably in one family for a few generations and well cared for. Another one of a kind, unique find we are pleased to offer for the most discerning collector or civil war historian from my private collection.
