RARE Original WW1 US ARMY CAVALRY CANTEEN Cover with Leather Hanger, all matchin:

Now this is VERY RARE, WWI Canteen cover dated R.I.A. 1918, with what I believe is a WW1 canteen metal cup with same markings, HQ 38.

This is a Cavalry Canteen cover complete with strap (in very good condition), with brass clip. The cover has a brass pin on it that reads \"U.S. 2 HQ 38, with the

cross swords. Have never seen one of these that was complete, with matching canteen metal cup. Now the canteen has some dents, and is dated 1942. Either this

was turned back into supply, and re-issued in WWII, or handed down in the same family. Very rare Find.. Please view all the pics, as they help to describe and

tell the story of this rare item. It is has to read, but under the Black U.S. on the front on the cover, it has \"38\" in black ink that has faded. The leather strap on the bottom

is also stamped (into the leather) \" HQ 38\". It all Matches.

I looked this unit up, it was activated in 1916, and de-activated in 1945. I do not even believe the museum, has this rare find.
