RARE PAIR OF HUMANE SOCIETY OF COMMONWEALTH OF MA PORCELAIN LIFE SAVING SIGNS:
$2150.00

TODAYS ITEM FOR sale IS: two well known signs to high end collectors of vintage and antique porcelain signs. They are from The Humane Society of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 1 is HOW TO RESCUE A DROWNING PERSON. Measures 11 x 18 inches. 5 steps to save a life. All 5 are illustrated on the sign with the text regarding the steps. They reccommend joining the RED CROSS and becoming an expert LIFE SAVER. Balton Enamel & Novelty Co. Balto. & 107 Eustis St. Boston. 4 brass gromets. Nearly flawless. I have seen in person 12 of these back 30 years ago and this was the best we have ever seen for condition. 2. HOW TO SAVE A LIFE FROM DROWNING. Has 4 tips and has illustrations of steps to follow. This one does not have the manufacturers name on the sign. Has 4 white metal gromets. 10 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches. Great condition, Left side near border at figure 2 are some bubbles that are in the sign and will not break. Lower left above the gromet is a faint 1/2\" piece with no paint. These are quite minor when considering the age and how clean the rest of the signs are. I am not sure of the year. Men in the images are wearing one piece bathing suits similar to those worn during the 1910\'s to 1920\'s. By the 30\'s they were into one piece suits. The Humane Society of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts dates back to 1786 and designed after the British Royal Humane Society. From the outset, The Humane Society focused on recognizing selfless lifesaving rescues and preventing such tragedies. It established an awards system with a financial stipend for those who risked their lives to save others and presented its first award in 1786. By sponsoring public lectures and publishing research studies, it encouraged innovative lifesaving techniques and resuscitation measures. Its resources financed a number of firsts in the country: lifesaving huts and rescue boats along the coast, swimming instruction for Boston public school students, instructional posters on resuscitation methods and funding to create Massachusetts General Hospital, McLean Hospital and the Boston Lying-In Hospital. They were the countries life saving entity before the US Live Saving Service and a pre-runner to the US Coast Guard. Very influentual in everything known regarding life saving, saving lives, medals, teaching etc. Don\'t miss out!!Please see the scans above for the exact item and condition, then offer what it is worth to you based on the images if it\'s an sale or it may be a buy it now which you can buy outright.
