This medal is 2 inches long, and weighs 32 grams. Itssale will benefit two Carmelite Convents who feed poor kids in SouthAmerica.

Catholic Bishop George Guertin was a good friend of mymother Bertha (the founder of Church Woman Antiques). He was also a collectorof rare original Vatican mint medals, from the 18th century; this medalwas from his collection, and was acquired with several others by my mother in1932.

All the Bishops medals came directly from Vatican clergyfriends; some were never issued to the public, or show little signs of wear asthey came from Convents and monasteries in Italy before the start of WWII.

The medals in our sales have been inspected byreputable numismatic dealers, and their dating can be confirmed on pages 2& 3 of the book AN INTRODUCTION TO RELIGIOUS MEDALS, by Bob Forrest, andpublished by NUMISMATICA INTERNATIONAL in 2004.

In addition this book has chapters (outlined in the tableof contents), describing each of the categories of medals, their possible placeof pilgrimage (acquisition), and origin of the mint where they were made.
