Fresh from a local estate we have an extremely rare large American coin silver ladle circa 1750-1770. This ladle bears the makers mark of IC (or JC) as the letter I was used in place of J until about 1800 or soin the American alphabet. It was used either as a soup or punch ladle measuring in at an impressive 14\" in length and weighing roughly 5.77ozt. There is bright cut engraving completely down the front of the handle as well as were the handle meets the bowl on the rear. But, even rarer still, no monogram nor signs that one has been removed.

The touch mark of IC (or JC) was used by several makers of this period both in the North and more notably in the South. My references are not definitive enough on these markings for me to firmly say it is one or the other so please look and decide for yourself. Overall condition is good for this piece with expected wear and some dings and dents to the bowl and handle. This extremely rare ladle would make a welcome addition to any coin silver collection.
