Up for sale is a rare and handsome Royal Doulton Series Ware Pitcher titled \"Old Bob Ye Guard\", based on drawings by Charles Noke.It stands 7-3/4\" high with an hourglass shape and a pinched spout running vertically down the front.
It has a warm mustard colored (Holbein) glaze with fine speckles and features an old gentleman in a top hat and great coat holding a long trumpet.The opposite side depicts the village street.A wide band runs around the rim with silhouettees of horse-drawn carriages.
The glaze continues to the inside along with a title banner that reads:\"OLD BOB YE GUARD\".Stamped on the base with the early Doulton mark as shown, along with D2645, and dating to fine condition with no chips or cracks or gouges. I found only two little flakes off the black trim near the spout, shown enlarged below.A rare and fine addition to a Royal Doulton Seriesware collection!
