For your consideration is this fabuloushand carved sewingetui made by the highly sought after company; Tahan of Paris. It was made in the early to mid 1800s and features a scrimshaw engraved monogram of \"CAR\" on the face. The case has lovely graining and crosshatching to the material and opens with a pushbutton mechanism. There is some damage to the interior of the lid on theright hand side (pleaseexamine photos carefully). The box still closes properly and holds the tools in snuggly. The hinges are made of bright golden brass with sapphire blue hued screws, one of which is missing. They features the same embossed pattern as the tools, as well as are engraved with the company name of \"Tahan\" and their corresponding address of 11Bd des Itailiens, Paris.
Inside it is fitted for all the tools a proper aristocratic lady would need to engage in her needle arts. The tools are made ofvermeil (gold washed silver) and marked with a Boar\'s head denoting the silver content. The tools include a bodkin, astiletto, a thimble, aneedle case, and a set of scissors. The scissors are in Fine, working condition, but the tips are slightly bent.
Measurements:The case measures 4 inches long, 1.75 deep, and .75 inches tall.
Condition:Complete andexquisite for its age. Tips of scissors are slightly bent, but still in working order. One blue screw on hinge ismissing. Interior right side of lid is damaged, but the case still functions properly.
