DESCRIPTION: Up for sale is a rare, very beautiful Early American Folk Art Original Framed Oil on Canvas Portrait Painting Mounted on board in outstanding Gold Gilt Frame. Depicts a stern woman in formal dress. Excellent subject matter by a masterful artist with an American Gothic Feel. It is signed on the right hand side in red with yellow shadow illegibly and dated 1827. A very unusual and remarkable piece.Condition: Painting is in great condition with some minor flaws as follows. Very good with some minor paint loss around edges of canvas, canvas mounted to oval very early backing board, gilt frame and mounting of painting appears to be later, frame wear and loss. Overall, an excellent RARE condition painting for the age and could be hung and displayed as is as I would say its its in very good condition. It measures total in frame at 9\" x 6 5/8\".
