Rare Pickle Castor

Description:

Presented for your consideration is this interesting andunusual square pickle castor. The base of the castor, lid and tongs are allsilver-plated and feature an ornate pattern throughout. The feet on the basehave a woman\'s head on each foot and a scene featuring hunters is around theouter edge of the jar holder area. This scene features two hunters with spearscreeping up on animals. The opposite side shows a seal and a man in a canoe.Nice, intricate detailing is present throughout the base. The jar of the picklecastor is made of deep aqua (or blue-green) glass and features a detailed leafpattern around the top and along the corner edges. Bottom of the jar has asunburst design. The jar is completed with a silver-plated lid with a fancyhandle and a intricate floral design on the top. Comes with the original tongs.Bottom of the base bares the Meriden hallmark. This stunning pickle castorwould make a great addition to any general antique or silverplate collection!

Light roughness is around the top edge of the jar. Lightwear from age and use. Metal is free of dents and dings. Overall in EXCELLENTcondition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.

Measures 3 3/4\" square at the base and 12\" tall.
