Rare Lovely - Superb Alligator Skin Wallet - 4+ troy oz

This is a really fabulous ANTIQUEVICTORIAN solid sterling silver mounted alligator skin wallet that was made in London, England in 1893 by the illustrious Victorian silversmith, Henry Marshall at his Corsica Street workshops. It is in a stunningrectangular design withsilver corners and a silver cartouche....internally, it has plated mounts and what appears to be a calfskin interior. It measures 4\" wide by 5 1/2\" tall. The ensemble weighs134.1 grams-well over4 1/4troy oz. It is engraved to the cartouche with Percy W. Arnold Gt Yarmouth Feby 9th 1894.

It is in very good condition for its age with no rips or damage to the alligator skin, a few dings but NO dentsand lighter surface scratching than you\'d expect to the mounts - SUPERB - but it no longer clasps shut.The mounts are hallmarked with HM, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),leopard head,Sshowing that they were hallmarked in London in 1893. I have shown the hallmarks so that you can make up your own mind. A lovely and very rare to findVICTORIANalligator skin walletafterover 120years - so very unusual!!!
