~ D E S C R I P T I O N ~ This is a very attractive vintage Black Americana African lady head vase made in Japan by Shafford in the 1950\'s.The head vase is stamped on the underside \"Hand Decorated Shafford\".It is made of a painted and glazed ceramicand measures 5\" tall, 3\" wide, and 3½\" long.

This beautifully decorated vase is in great condition, with no damage, the glaze is nice and glossy, the paint and colors are vivid and bright.

There is avery tiny spot of wear (missing paint - not a fleabite) on the top edge of the planter that can be seen in the photos. It is super small and very minor. There are no chips, cracks, breaks, or crazing. There is some minor wear on the gold gilt hoop earrings.

The head vase is beautifully rendered with vertically rippled turban / basket on her head and horizontally rippled garment around the neck, both in bright yellow. The face is striking with lovely molded features, eyes, ears, nose, and pretty red lips. She is wearing a pair of gold gilt hoop earrings.
