RARE Vintage/Antique Beaded Circular Strike-a-light pouch (Cheyenne/Arapaho):

This beautiful handmade beaded \"Strike-A-Light\" pouch is an exceptional find. Two distinct design characteristics set this Native American work apart from others. The piece is not only is the uncommon round shape, but shows detailed bead work on both sides as well. It measures approx. 3.25 inches across the body and 5.25\" across with the beaded fringe work. Attributed to plains Indians, probably Cheyenne or Arapaho. The bag/pouch has a circular bead design in colors of white (main color) with a center white cross design surrounded by red beads with gold clear beads between the arms of the cross. There are designs of dark blue beads in what appears to be a semblance of triangles (4). At the ends of the circle are red and gold beads arranged in lines. There is beaded fringe 3/4\'s around the circular design in colors of white, dark blue, and clear gold beads arranged in a pattern. The other side of the pouch (right side) has large triangles in dark blue, gold and red (4). The center design is a white cross surrounded by gold and dark blue beads. The upper part of the pouch has red and white beads on the perimeter (right side). There is a buckskin loop above the end of the flap which is attached to the flap. All the beads are seed beads. The pouch is of the Cheyenne - Arapaho tribe. The Cheyenne used a chalk white color almost exclusively for a background color with the navy or dark blue beads. The red beads replaced the pink and rose color beads in later times, and there was limited use of the yellow (gold) and is called a butterscotch color.
