RARE & WONDERFUL WATERBURY WATCH METAMORPHIC TRADE CARD - GREAT IMAGE- UNCLE SAM:

This rare original metamorphic trade card advertises the Waterbury Watch, an American product manufactured in CT.

The front of the closed card is a simple picture of the watch. When the card is opened, it features vignettes of a messenger and his bicycle, and a young boy who is distressed because he is late to school and will get a whipping. When the second flap is lowered, the distressed boy has become happy because he got his Waterbury Watch and will not be late again. There is another vignette at the bottom of a man chasing his watch as it rolls down an embankment.

The back of the closed card is titled TIME FLIES and it shows Uncle Sam and the people of the world (including a Chinaman, an Irishwoman, and a Black man) trying to catch the elusive flying watch.

2 5/8\" x 9 5/8\" fully open (as scanned). Printed on heavier paper stock by Grover & Black of Nottingham UK and in very good condition. There are a couple of light areas of discoloration that have been greatly intensified by my scanner. Probably printed in England for an American company exhibiting its watches at an English exposition..
