On the face side : depiction of Saint Nikolas

The Saint is depicted in the rich garments of a Bishop of theByzantine Orthodox Church. He holds his right hand aloft with three fingersbent together in the glory of the Holy Trinity. In his left hand he holds abook of the Gospels.

At the sides over the Saint\'s shoulders there arehalf-figures of Christ and Virgin presenting him with the Book of Gospels andHomophor.

St. Nicholas was the bishop of Myra in the IV century. He is one of the mostpopular Saints in the world. People of various occupations claim him as patron.He saved sailors from terrible storm, helped poor and saved innocents from theaxe. He is the Holy patron of Russia.
