This is a rare captured bear livery button. There is a muzzle around his mouth and a large cast iron collar with ring around his neck. There are also 10 arrow points with trifoil (clover-shaped) tips, similar to the arrows used by legendary Scythian archers. I do not know the family or the meaning of the symbolism. the artistry cannot be denied. It is a very well made button from the early part of the 19th Century.
