RARE c1860s Extendable Engraved Gold Dip Nib Fountain Pen w Original Case Morton:
$44.99

PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND INSPECT PHOTOS. I HAVE LIMITED INFORMATION SO IVE DESCRIBED IT IN LENGTH.Description: I don\'t have much information on this pen as the only marking is the engraved name \'Ossie\' and I don\'t think I have the original nib which may have had the makers name. However, with some other items that I got from the same estate I know for certain that Ossie was a girl that was born in 1852. I am assuming she got this as a gift when she was a girl or teenager which would be the 1860s or the 1870s at the latest. It is personalized to her so it was probably made right then too. It is in it\'s ORIGINAL velvet lined case with hook closure which seems pretty rare. There is red velvet on the bottom with a depression to hold the pen and white silk? padded cushioning on the top. There is a brass hook and loop, but no hinges, it functions by having upper and lower pieces connected with leather and/or cloth. The pen was packaged like it was fine jewelry. It took me awhile to even figure out what it was because I have never seen one and it is unmarked except for the engraved \'Ossie\'. When I figured out the nob on the end (which appears to be a very beautiful and dense wood or else some artificial material) pulls out and nearly doubles the length, I realized it was likely a writing instrument that was maybe handy for traveling. Then I found a pen nib relatively close to were I found this pen and it fits nice and snug in the half-circle opening and was sure. I\'m relatively certain that the nib I found with it is NOT original to the pen, but it is a Beatsall Falcon or Beats All Falcon and it will be included anyways. It doesn\'t appear to hold ink. If it does hold ink I don\'t know how it works, so I guess this is considered a dip nib pen?It is a beautiful pen and obviously with such a nice case it was probably an exquisite gift of the time. It is at least gold plate or gold filled. It\'s possible it is gold, but there is kind of a seam very near to where the slit can be seen and it has a slight silver-tone in this area. There is a continuous geometric design like the Chevrolet logo except for a small rectangular blank space where the owners name could be engraved. There is a 1/4\" band that wraps around the pen to secure it which has a different fine hatch pattern.I really hope someone more knowledgeable than me can see the geometric design on the pen and the case and maybe have an idea of who made it. I\'ve provided all the knowledge I have and took many photos. I don\'t think these extendable pens are very common, but it appears a bunch of companies made designs close to this, including Morton, of which some look very very close, but not identical. I think the Morton pens have the maker information on the nibs as well. The craftsmanship is beautiful on the pen (and the case) and I think having the original case is rare. Some similar pens from specific companies go into $100s of dollars. Measurements: pen is 3\" long when closed. When black nob is pulled and it extended it becomes 5\" long (without nib). The case measures 3/4\" by 3/4\" by 4\" long.Condition: Good overall condition. NO NIB but in ORIGINAL CASE. Case is very good only minor cosmetic imperfections. Pen likewise very good with only minimal surface wear. It is engraved with the name \'Ossie\'. Black wooden? end pulls out and retracts fine. Please inspect the photos.Shipped FREE via USPS with appropriate care... Thank YOU!Payment
I have had to take precautions because of people not paying. You will have 4 days to pay, then an unpaid item case will be opened. From this point you will have another 4 days to pay. That\'s EIGHT total days, however if you don\'t pay the case will close and show on your record. At this time the item will be offered to the next highest buyer or re-listed. A case HAS to be opened to recoup selling fees.Shipping
I only ship within the US or to eligible Countries through the Global shipping program (however I don\'t use this for all items). If it doesn\'t say I ship to your Country in shipping details, then I won\'t, no exceptions, sorry. The shipping service will depend on the buyers location and the package weight. I predominantly use Priority Mail unless an item qualifies for First Class, however I will use Parcel Select in some instances particularly if you live out West (I am based outside of Buffalo, NY). I am not a business and I reuse boxes and packaging so my packages aren\'t always the prettiest, but I do spend a lot of time and effort in ensuring items are packed with care, handled fast and shipped using an expedited service when possible.offers/Offers
I will NOT end items early via accepting a buy it now price or even respond to people offering amounts in exchange for me ending the item early. If I am selling an item via sale it will not end prematurely unless I made a mistake in the listing or the item was lost/broken. Please keep in mind I like to use free shipping and shipping prices fluctuate quite a bit. This is a consideration during offers. I may sell an item cheaper to someone closer to me opposed to someone offerding out West because the shipping may be a lot cheaper. If an item is heavy, the shipping out West is very expensive.Returns/Refunds
I offer returns on all items except for items that are being sold broken for parts/fix. You will have 14 days from the time you receive it to return it, no questions asked. If you simply don\'t like it or it doesn\'t fit then you are accountable for the return shipping. If i make an error in the listing (and I will from time to time) then I will pay for the shipping back to me. I will make mistakes. However, threatening to escalate cases etc. won\'t make the process any more enjoyable. I have been accused of all sorts of things while selling on this platform, but when I make a mistake in a listing or an item doesn\'t function properly YOU WILL BE FULLY REFUNDED and I will lose money on shipping to and fro. Just return the item, I will refund you every time. I didn\'t get good response by deceiving people on purpose or taking shortcutsresponse
I generally leave response AFTER the buyer. This is just a little extra confirmation that you received the item and you\'re happy with it. Regardless, many people still don\'t leave response but after a period of time (enough time where I can assume the item isn\'t getting returned) I will leave positive response whether you have or not.
I am not a business, but an individual who enjoys selling on very much. This is not my occupation, more a hobby. I source items from all over. Estate sales, garage sales, liquidations, sales, consignments for friends. I do my best to keep buyers happy and them offerding risk free. If I make a mistake I will go out of my way to make things right and I believe my response is a testament to that. THANK YOU!
