1906 Lehmann wind up tin beetle. JAN. 2, 1906. Pat USA Made in Germany. DR Patent. GM Marke Lehmann. Wind key stamp side 1 D.R.P. Side 2 wind key stamp Lehmann. Also known as a EPL 431 this toy was one of the most colorful and most popular of the animal toys produced in Germany by Lehmann. Made from 1898 to 1935 this wind up toy flutters it wings, makes a clatter noise and crawls along the floor or table top in a realistic motion. Wind up piece is original and stamped. The beetle works excellent when wound up. What a piece for a true collector ! Founded by Ernst Paul Lehmann the company distinguished itself by producing small, lightweight tin toys that were more affordable than those the competition produced. In the early 1900\'s, many competitors were making heavier iron toys. Most Lehmann toys that were made are extremely hard to find in working order as \"children tended to over-wind them and break the toy\" As stated not only is the wind up mechanism in perfect working order but the toy itself works ..fluttering wings and moving when set onto a surface. As for paints on it all is original and has not been restored or changed in anyway. What you get is an original toy, a very rare find.
