\"After Reading E. R. Edison \" An Original Drawing by Roy G. Krenkel (executed circa 1970s) Pen on 8.5 x 11 piece of yellow paper.
This exquisite drawing was executed as a homage to the writer E. R. Edison and was to be used for the large edition published by Owlswick Press titled \"Cities and Scenes of the Ancient World\" In point of fact the drawing proved too sensitively executed to be adequately reproduced in that volume and was put aside by the artist and never offered for sale. Krenkel often did not take reproduction into account when executing a drawing as can be scene with the large drawing he did of \"The Baths of Caracalla \" for the book which also proved too delicate to survive reproduction given the technology available to George Scither\'s at the time. It was subsequently traced and copied in ink and reproduced that way, an arduous undertaking given the amount of detail evident in the illustration. This is a very finely executed work from the early 70s by a master of linear fantasy . A certificate of authentication will be sent to the buyer from the RGK Estate on demand. The drawing comes from th artist\'s collection of his own work and has never been offered for sale before.
