A beautiful ROYAL ALBERT CROWN CUP & SAUCER Art Deco FLOWERS & LINES pattern #9264 with BLUE trim, Circa 1934-1935 from Longton, Staffordshire, England

Thomas C. Wild joined his father Thomas Wild in purchasing Albert Work in 1895. Upon his father’s death in 1898, he became sole proprietor adding St. Mary’s Works in Longton in 1905. As Wild’s business prospered, he acquired other factories and pottery business. By the early 1920’s he owned or controlled 15 potteries. Thomas’ sons, Thomas E. and Frederick C., were admitted to the partnership in 1917 and the father retired in 1932. The business was incorporated as Thomas C. Wild & Sons, Ltd. Thomas C. Wild & Sons (Royal Albert) took over Paragon China in 1960, then merged with the Lawley Group to become Allied English Potteries in 1964, subsequently Paragon and Royal Albert joined the Royal Doulton Group in 1972. The mark on both the cup & saucer is identified as used in the 1927-1935 time period by http://www.royalalbertpatterns.com. The British registration #794028 was entered in the registration book in 1934. This limits the production time of the cup & saucer set to the 1934-1935 time period.

This superb quality china has color that is bright and vivid on the white background. This is painted on a blank of fine white bone china with bright blue trim on the edges. This has the Flowers & Lines pattern on both the cup & saucer and the cutest art deco handle on the cup.

While this set classified as used, we can find no chips, rubbings, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. The only area of concern is the tiniest nick on the rim of the cup. We can\'t decide what caused this--it could be after market damage or an area where debris worked itself out of the slip. (See photo #8.) There is no wear to the blue trim on the edges. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the vivid colors and no crazing. The lack of utensil scratches attests to the high quality of the bone china. This is really a striking art deco vintage set.

The smooth rim saucer has a diameter of 5 5/8\" and a height of 3/4\". The art deco cup has a diameter of 3 3/8\" and stands 2 13/16\" tall.

As collectors ourselves, we tend to be very picky and find it necessary to point out anything we see. We believe you will be very satisfied with this vintage decorative, yet functional, art deco cup & saucer set.
