The process by which \"tapestry\" pieces were made is a fascinating procedure that was used by some of the most skillful decorators of antique porcelain. After the design was painted onto the surface, the porcelain item was covered with cheesecloth before the piece was glazed. The glaze was then applied and the porcelain item was then fired. The extremely high temperature in the oven burnt the cheesecloth away giving the porcelain it rich textured look.

For your consideration, I am offering a gorgeous, large, 19th Century, hand-painted, Art Nouveau, Royal Bonn TAPESTRY Jardiniere/Cache Pot/Planter with a signed sterling silver or Silver Plated manufactured by the Royal Bonn Factory located in Germany....

Absolutely gorgeous and flawless, this centerpiece bowl/jardiniere depicts hand paintedtapestry scenic decor is a kaleidoscope of marvelous colors that tell a vivid still life story. The background porcelain is done in warm deep hues of rust browns, grays and creams and blues... The darker shades of these colors are found around the base where it hints at the dark richness of the earth, while the top rim area is done in the softest of blue and gray to mimic the sky..Against this incredible backdropwhat appears to be a tall castle and overpass bridge..Turning the vase slowly around the entire sides and back are filled with an explosion of wildflowers and large graceful leaves,accented with gold which outlines the ribs in the foliage, almost each leave, embellishes the stems of all flowers..

This rare jardiniere measures 7 3/8 inches top rim diameter, 5.25 inches base diameter, 5 inches height and a 6.75 inch base diameter..

I cannot find a backstamp on the porcelain piece - might have worn off, not positive...Many tapestry \"Royal Bonn\" pieces were made from theFranz Anton Mehlem Factory...

Light signs of previous use should be expected consistent with age...Free of chips, cracks or restoration, typical slight crazing noticeable on the interior and exterior bottom only..All issues mentioned for accuracy of description..
