Part of the UNCLE TOBY SERIES featuring Uncle Toby as a TOXOPHILITE (a student or lover of archery). Front saying THE DIVERSIONS OF UNCLE TOBY AS A TOXOPHILITE. Diffuse glaze crazing. GOOD condition. I note a large chip to the edge that has been basically repaired. Possibly a piece for work by a professional restorer (photos). Otherwise, no chips, cracks, breaks, hairlines or restorations seen. Handpainted transferware. Unusual piece. Hallmarked appropriately on underside with ROYAL DOULTON lion and crown mark (photo). Pattern D3121. Measures approximately 10 1/2\" round, 1\" lift.
