ROYAL DOULTON PITCHER ~ \"INDIAN\" PATTERN ~ No. 597783:
$78.77

Presenting Royal Doulton\'s milk pitcher in the \"Indian\" pattern -- a darkish ivory color with very fine decorations in a botanical motif (flowers, leaves, vines, butterflies). Measures 5\" tall from the base to the top of the spout, elsewhere 4 3/4\" tall. Octagonal base is 3 1/4\" across, top opening is 3 1/2\" across. A very pretty and quite rare piece that is believed to date from 1902-1922. The hallmark (see photo of bottom) of a lion with a crown standing on top of a larger crown was introduced during this period to mark the grant of the Royal Warrant by King Edward VII.Overall very good condition, except for these minor flaws: 1) sm. 1/8\" chip just below the handle; 2) bubble under 1/8\" on the same panel of the octagon as the spout; 3) 3 tiny pinholes on rim (one, pictured, near handle); 4) crazing and some discoloration throughout.
