JOHN BARLEYCORN - LIMITED EDITION ROYAL DOULTON TOBY JUG - STYLE #D5327 (Large Size)
This limited edition Toby Jug was issued by Royal Doulton in 1978. It is a tribute to John Barleycorn - a character from an English Folksong who is the personification of Barley (and the alcoholic beverages like ale and whisky derived from Barley). The back of the jug has the name \"John Barleycorn Old Lad\" inscribed in the porcelain.
Unlike many Toby Jugs which are merely decorative, this particular jug was designed to be used and has a well formed pouring lip. It is ideal for adding a splash of water to your favorite single malt scotch or bourbon and no truly well appointed British or Celtic bar or pub is complete without this jug.

This jug is #5795 out of an edition of 7,500.
It is in pristine mint condition with no chips, cracks, flaws or crazing of any kind and it shows absolutely no signs of wear.
Entirely handcrafted at the Royal Doulton works in England.
Like most Toby Jugs of this vintage, it does not have an original box of any kind. It will be well packaged in a generic box.
