A unique, 94-105-years-oldcolor RURAL LETTER CARRIER Christmas GREETING CARD. Never mailed. Slight corner wear. The cardsays “Compliments of the Season,” J. H. Marshall, Rural Letter Carrier, R.F.D.No. 2. Unfortunately there is no further information as to the town or state. Onthe reverse of the card is a poem “The Pennies in the Box” which instructs patronsto buy stamps rather than put pennies in the mailbox. The poem ends with “Ifyou want St. Peter to open the gate When your rural carrier knocks, Buy stampsand don’t be guilty Of putting pennies in the box.” These cards were used as Christmasgreetings and this poem is one of a series of such “instructional” poems. A greatgift for a letter carrier! Scarce, because people don’t tend to savethese kinds of cards. Old, and authentic. Own this original.
