A rare Russian silver tonguedepressor. It is hallmarked for with a makers mark and the Kokoshnik mark usedduring the early 20thcentury. I have called it a tongue depressoras it was purchased with other medical pieces however it could also be used as aletter opener. I think it is the former as it is rather plain to be a letter openerand has a simple yet functional design. It is in superb condition being freefrom dings splits and repairs. It measures 7 inches (18cms) long and weighs 40grams. A very interesting and unusual piece.
