Offered here is this ESTATE FRESH Russian Silvericon by the master silversmith & acclaimed assayer Pyotr Abrosimov.This icon displays some of finest old world craftsmanship of the time, and Abrosimov produced some of the finest Russian silver icons of this period, circa late 19th C. The design features four haloed saints, Two winged cherubs, a God head crest, and applied gold Jesus crucifix. It has a church in the background. The high relief design is quite exquisite, and it is apparent why these examples are so highly sought! The attention to the stylized leaf design, and beading on the border it quite eye-catching! It carries the the various marks shown, including a Russian 84 silver mark, Abrosimov's assayer's mark, and also a Moscow city mark. Russian icons are not our forte, but as far as I can tell, this example dates to the late 19th C, about 1895 I believe (please confirm with your own research). I've only ever seen one other in this design. It was made of copper, it was a bit small than this one, and the Jesus crucifix was part of the relief design, not applied like this one. This one measures approx 10 1/2" X 12". It is in very good condition, with only minor antique wear. It has light dings to the corners, and a few small spots of pitting. No repairs, heavy dents, scrapes or gouges. The dark green velvet backing and finishing nails appears original. Please view all of the images, as they are part of this description.
