From Ekzyuperi\'s biography it is possible to learn that probably the first sketch of the boy - \"Little Prince\" that image which was published together with the fairy tale later, was made by the author in May, 1940, in the letter to the friend Leon Vert. And in 1942, during a dinner with the American publisher of books, Ekzyuperi drew the child\'s figure with the fluttering scarf on a cloth. Having noticed it, the publisher suggested Ekzyuperi to write the fairy tale with participation of such character.

The history of oneof the oldest European porcelain ware manufacturers dates back to the 18thcentury, when according to the edict of the daughter of Peter the Great EmpressElizabeth the Imperial Porcelain Factory was established. Thanks to thetalented Russian chemist, the inventor of Russian hard-paste porcelain DmitryIvanovich Vinogradov – the secret of “white gold” production was unlocked. Forthe first time in history of ceramics Vinogradov presented the scientificdescription of porcelain production thereby enabling manufacturing of highquality porcelain ware out of domestic raw materials.

What especiallymakes The Imperial Porcelain Factory that famous is the production ofmagnificent table sets that started during the reign of Catherin the Great. “Catherinporcelain” was recognized as a piece of art together with canvases andsculptures of prominent masters. Among the most well-known table-sets ensemblesare “Gur’ev”, “Armorial” table sets, and collector’s plates from the “Gothicstained glass” table set. Later on the IPF started producing porcelain “dolls”– small figures of animals and people that were used for table decoration. Themain task, which was given to the Imperial Porcelain Factory, was to “providewhole Russia with porcelain”- which still remains to be its motto.

Till present daythe IPF produces magnificent porcelain ware according to the sketches of mostfamous vases and table plates that belonged to the royal family. In our shopyou can find the unique plates manufactured by The Imperial Porcelain Factorybased on the original table sets, kept in the State Hermitage Museum and formerresidences of the members of the royal family. Incomparable hand dropped vasesin Russian Empire style such as “White night on Moika River”, “Michael Castle”;marvelous vases made in technique of glazed landscape painting such as “Russianside”, “Hermitage” are made in a skillful way by the masters of the IPF andrepresented in our shop.
