This is a very lovely high quality work from 1950-1970year by Kubachi - Dagestan Russian Imperial Cossacks using Niello andhandcrafted technique. It has no hallmarks. Typical Russian Cossack orCaucasian ornament in Niello decorative art work.In the 18th and 19th centuries therewas a flowering of artistic metalworking (niello in silver, deep engraving,filigree, chasing, embossing, and gold and silver inlays in metal, ivory, andhorn), particularly in the production and ornamentation of arms.About Kubachi Silver: Kubachiis urban-type settlement in the republic of Dagestan, which is situated on thesouthern border of Russia, in the Caucasus Mountains. Kubachi is mentioned in the IV century of annals.In ancient times, the Greeks developed the mines in the Caucasus, minedprecious metals, including silver, and here were engaged in jewelrymanufacturing.
