Very beautiful Hand Painted Orthodox HOLY TRINITY ICON- boards with internal wedge,- levkas (gesso, special priming)- Paint: egg tempera using precious natural pigments (azurite, auripigment, Siena, ocher, cadmium red)- halo_ gold leaf (24x carat).size 30 / 20 cm.This modern Russian Orthodox icon was painted by a modern professional artist sidesman.The style is traditional and strictly follows antique canons of the icon painting.
Though this is not its traditional title, this icon is sometimes called \"Old Testament Trinity\" because of its relationship to Genesis 18:1-15. In Genesis 18:1-15 three individuals appear toAbrahamat theOak of Mamre. The interpretation that this appearance is related to the Trinity is a Christian interpretation of the Hebrew scriptures. Consequently, the title of \"Old Testament Trinity\" is interpreting the Genesis narrative as much as it is naming the icon.
