Offered with is this Railroad caboose back-up whistle. These were found on the platform ends of the caboose. This was used as a signaling device and often blown at railroad crossings in back-up movements. The whistle valve also functions as a dump valve to put the train in emergency braking if needed. The whistle is made of brass, covered with what appears to be primer paint. It has some service marks and wear, but does function properly.
