This is an all original Ralph Rapson Rocker that is original condition. The chair is solid. It has no cracks and the arms have never been damaged. The webbing is original. No restoration has been done on this piece. There has been one repair on the webbing which is pictured. The chair is 22\" wide at the back, 27 1/2\" arm width, 30\" tall, 14\" seat height.Rare rocking chair designed by Ralph Rapson (1914-2008) and manufactured by Knoll in 1945. Very rare, as it was only in production for one year. Rapson studied at Cranbrook and later taught architecture at the New Bauhaus School from 1942-1946 and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1946-1954. In 1945, at just 31 years of age, Rapson was one of nine architects (including Richard Neutra, Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen and Pierre Koenig) selected to participate in the seminal Case Study Houses Program for Arts and Architecture magazine.The chair is available for local pick-up.
