are figural examples in the shapes of animals, bugs or other critters.This \"sewing dog\" from the 1800s obediently lays on top of his pincushion bed and helps out by gripping the fabric in his mouth ~ acting esentially as a third hand. It has a lacquered brass finish. There are a few slight bends to the decorative stamped edge directly beneath the green velvet pincushion. Otherwise ~ he\'s in overall Excellent Condition for his great age. Found at an old estate home in Long Beach California built in the 1900s on 1st Street ~ a block from the beach. I hung out for hours on a Sunday before the family finally brought out this old boy. I was lucky enough to spot him~ and now he\'s getting to see the light of day!Measures 3.5\" long x 2\" wide x 5\" tall
