Rare! 1856 DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE Lithograph, GEORGE WASHINGTON, Wm. H FISK

Up for sale is a very rare antique 1856 Declaration of Independence lithograph, published by Wm. H. Fisk of Manchester N.H.! It is backed with thick linen paper, and is an amazing and hard to find historical piece!

The text of the Declaration of Independence is framed by two boughs of grape vines tied together with a ribbon at the bottom of the image. In the center of the text is a full-length standing portrait of George Washington in the pose of Gilbert Stuart\'s Lansdowne portrait. The text is surmounted by an arch composed of two quills bearing the legend, \"Declaration of Independence,\" with an eagle in the center where the quills cross! The title continues: \"The original of this was designed & executed entirely with a pen by Gilman R. Ruseell, teacher of practical, plain & ornamental, writing and drawing.”

dThe publishing info at the bottom reads:“PUBLISHED BY WM. H. FISK. MANCHESTER N. H. Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1856, by Gilman R. Russell, in the Clerks Office of the District Court of Mass.”

Condition:There is some wear and small tears around the edges, and a larger tear at the top edge has been repaired.There is light toning and foxing. Mostly at the top section above the feathers, there are lighter spots where the paper is worn. Please view the photos for additional details and the most accurate description of its description.
