Rare 1922 Singer 78-1 Early Electric Leather or Canvas Sewing. Works Well:
$370.00
Here We Have;
(1)Singer industrial canvas / leather sewing machine.
Fresh Farm Find in need of cleaning and probably adjustments. Apparently it was originally a pedal type machine and had been
converted to an electric (way back when)
The pedal unit actually works as a speed control.
Oak butcher block style table.
Everything else is pretty much cast metal or good steel. Nothing really broken but things maybe adjusted weird due to the electrification.
THIS MACHINE RUNS QUIET AND SMOOTH.
See All Pics. They tell more than we can.We can prepare this unit for shipment, but it must be at the cost of the Buyer. For information concerning this procedure contact us.ADDED BELOW ARE RESEARCH AND OBSERVATIONS MADE BY AN EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE er. (Thank You for these comments)
Hello again...thanks for you reply...I was just curious about your machine since I already have one...78-1\'s are probably very rare by now because they were made in lesser numbers and preceded the eventually very popular 111W class walking foot machines with a full upper and lower compound feed design. The 78 class machines were a cross-over design by Singer as they were developing the full walking foot mechanisms. Mine is 1/300 that left the Singer factory 8/5/1919.Yours is 1/1000 from 1/4/1922. And, I don\'t think it was ever a treadle run machine but always a motor driven industrial machine....and you have a rare and complete electric setup. If you\'re interested in looking her up on the Singer website, you will learn there were 3 editions...78-1, 78-2, 78-3...all designed for specific jobs. Class 16x99 needles are still available for them.And, yours is worth every bit of the $500 you are asking for her.Good luck!
