EarthHunt Lot #A4001 – This is a rare (dated and stated) 1958 Originally Hardbound Second American Edition of “ AKU-AKU - THE SECRET OF Easter ISLAND ”. By THOR HEYERDAHL. Published by Rand McNally, New York, 1958.

It measures a substantial 9.125” x 6.25”. The uncut and completely intact dust jacket is included. The book is bound in the classic khaki cloth hardcover with gold gilt titles and pressed image of a large Easter Island statue integrated into the cover.

It is a wonderful description of the Heyerdahls exploration and research on Easter Island. There are 62 semi glossy Color photographs plus the 386 numbered text pages. The end pages are awesome color maps of the journey and islands.

We made a detailed review in order to describe any and all flaws in this 59 year old volume. We want you to be aware of any flaws, no matter how minor, in order to provide the most detailed description possible. This is ALL we found: 1) DUST JACKET: It is uncut with the original $6.95 price intact. There is just a touch of age toning and edge scuff and a single 3/4\" tear on the back. 2) The large volume is externally flawless and is internally flawless except for just a bit of age toning to the pages as normal (very minor). THAT IS ALL! There are NO stains, writing, tears, foxing, folds, chips or other flaws. All pages are tightly bound as published.
