Thissale is for a RARE, VINTAGE, CIRCA 1960s 8x10-INCH SINGLEWEIGHT GLOSSY GELATIN SILVER MALE PHYSIQUE PHOTOGRAPH PHYSIQUE PHOTOGRAPHER DICK FALCON OF COMPETITIVE BODYBUILDER AND PHYSIQUE MODEL JIM HAISLOP. Etc. This original gelatin silver photographic print is beautifully printed on singleweight glossy photographic paper, and was printed by Dick Falcon concurrent with when the image was shot, so it dates to the 1960s. It is in EXCELLENT condition, which should be evident from my scan. Like most of Falcon\'s home-darkroom prints, this one curls a bit at the edges.RICHARD \"DICK\" FALCON (1903-1993) in many ways created the template later adopted by models like Bob Delmonteque and Glenn Bishop, who began as physique models, but soon realized they could make more money if they shot and/or marketed their own photographs, or photographs of other models. (The Ritter Brothers and Tony Sansone plied this trade before Falcon came along, so credit is due to them, as well.) Falcon launched the Falcon Athletic Club at 323 East Fulton Street in Columbus, Ohio, and found it easy to draw models from among the young men who frequented his gym. For a brief time, Falcon participated in weightlifting competitions, winning First Place in the Ohio State competition in the 126-pound class, as well as the Junior National Championships in the same weight class. He began photographing male nudes during the late 1930s, and by the time his ad ran in the December 1939 issue of Strength and Health, the prolific photographer was offering more than 400 poses to \"a selected adult clientele.\" Falcon joined the war effort as a staff sergeant and was stationed at Daniel Field in Augusta, Georgia during World War II. A profile in the January 1943 issue of Strength and Health noted that \"He is not at the war front, nor on the home front, but on the kitchen front.\" The article noted that Falcon entered the service on June 4, 1941, and \"classified as a physical director, chef and photographer.\" During his long career, Falcon shot and marketed his own self-portraits and nudes of himself and other models. He appeared on the covers of numerousmagazines, including the February 1940 issue of Vim and the May 1940issue of Strength and Health. Falcon was a lifelong nudist, and during the 1960s he encouraged photographer Walter Kundzicz (Champion) to become part-owner of a nudist resort Falcon launched called Sunshine Beach Club. This photographer\'s work is quite rare andseldom shows up on or in the secondary market.Thisis a rare photograph of Haislop, shot as he was working toachieve the enormous and beautiful body development that earned him the 1968Mr. America title and the 1969 Mr. Universe title. Haislop had served in the Navy, and was working out at Dick Fudge\'s gym in Tampa, Florida, when Falcon began photographing him Circa 1964. Falcon\'s photographs of Haislop\'s quickly evolving physique were published frequently in TTomorrow\'s Man (including placement on the cover of the February 1964 issue).
