RARE, Good - Very Good, 1960 First Edition! A Mystery for Mr. Bass: A Mushroom Planet Book, written by Eleanor Cameron and illustrated by Leonard Shortall. The fourth installment of the Mushroom Planet Series finds Chuck, David, and the extraordinary Tyco Bass searching for the truth about some strange fossils. Their search takes them to unknown regions of the Mushroom Planet.

This edition offers more than a Mushroom Planetadventure, but also the story of an era of science fiction books for adolescent readers and a look through the eyes of an editor or reviewer. Very Rare indeed! Published July 28, 1960, in a Bancroft Blue Trade Cloth hardcover.This was a sample edition - not a library edition. It was likely sent to an outside editor for final edits or a book reviewer. There are a few edit notes on seven pages. Although showing some wear, this issue retains its dust cover. The book has also been covered in a Brodart Fold-On book jacket cover to protect the original dust cover. This Broadartcover is easily removable. This edition is in very good - good condition. There is some yellowing of the pages. Slight damage from a paperclip can be found on pages 54-57. There are a few editing notes made in pencil on seven pages, the front inside cover and the back end page. There is also a sample plate on the last end page.The most damage/discoloration can be found on the inside back cover. The illustrations by Leonard Shortall remain clean and in extremely good condition.
