Cleaning out my Aunts house so I am listing some of her items. Do not know much about this item except for what I seen on here. Please look at all pics and ask questions if needed.This is a lovely example of Frie Onnaing French majolica pottery. It is clearly marked on the bottom with the logo and the #714!
It measures approx. 8 1/2\" high and 7\" from handle to spout and is in great condition, with no chips, cracks or hairlines. It is a wonderful addition to any collection of majolica or figural pottery. It is listed on page 148 in the Majolica book \"American & European Wares\" by Jeffrey B. Snyder and Leslie Bockol, Schiffer Publishing, published in 1994.This water pitcher has a scene of villagers sitting against a wall with a window under trees.
Onnaing is a northern french village. In 1821, Charles de Bousies founded a pottery t A lot of majolica was produced by Frie Onnaing, and the production of pitchers was the specialty and made with a great deal of variety. Today these Onnaing pitchers are often the most expensive and are often of flowers, animals, political and historical figures.
