19th Century French Award Medal Vélocipédique Sport Bicycle.Very nice 1896 example of French engraver Fredric Vernon\'s work. Obverse shows three types/styles of bicycles of the era. A two wheeled, a three wheeled and the prominent penny-farthing type bicycle. Reverse is reserved for the awarded medal\'s recipient dedication that was never entered.
Medal is in very fine condition and is sterling silver, 55mm in diameter, and approximately 60g in weight. The medal\'s rim mount along with the ring is long gone, lost sometime in the last 122 years.Rare item particularly in this larger size.
