Rare Antique French Pierrot Boudoir Doll Haute Couture:

Up for your consideration is this very rare and luxurious Pierrot, with her original tag from the Paris Haute Couture \"Jacquard School.\" This is from my personal collection and purchased from a seller in France. This is the information that was provided to me when I purchased her. Early 20\'s and OOAK, only two other are known to exist, which were sold at a well known French Chartres sale, they were dressed as Marquis and Marquise and each doll had a hand painted face with a different express, which make them one of a kind. The one presented here is dressed as a young Pierrot. Stuffed cloth head and body, hands with separate fingers. A very fine hand painted celluloid mask covers the face. It\'s so fine that it is hand sewn to the stuffed cloth face with tiny stitches. Hair is golden silk. The wool and silk costume is Haute Couture made as it was the \"Chef d\'Ceuvre\" presented by each student at the end of their studies to be allowed to work in Haute Couture ateliers. Shoes are off white leather with pompoms.

She stands 28 inches tall, she does NOT sit, she stands, her head is stationary. Her head is a bit loose, but believe this is how she was made. Some of the silk hair have strays here and there. Her outfit is in good condition, but does have a couple of very minor stains, her ruffled neck piece has tears in it. I can feel wire in one of her legs, her shoes have one hole on the sole of each of them, so she probably had a stand that would accommodate the holes in the shoes so she can stand. The only tag that I could find reads: Ecole Jacquard. (I think that is what it reads). A very rare doll that would be a welcome addition to any collection!
