This magnificent rare Georgian necklace from circa 1820 features eight sumptuous antique oval-cut golden-orange color citrines, framed by delicate floral hand Cannetille work in 14k gold, plus thirty natural pearls. The name \"Cannetile\" refers to the gold embroideries of the Napoleonic period. This style of intricate design was popular in jewelry of the time. The origin of this necklace is English. This elegant necklace looks marvelous when worn: the delicate mounts are arranged perfectly to fit the neck, so it is very pleasant to wear. The necklace is in exceptionally good condition considering it`s age; there are some small antique strengthening reparations (please see the photos for details, particularly segment #4: refer below) however these do not detract from the beauty or integrity of the necklace. The total weight of the necklace is 45.2 grams. The total length when open is 432mm (43.2cm) or 17 inches. There are seven \"segments\" in the front plus a clasp at the rear. The seven segments in front have an approximate length of 122mm. Counting from left to right: Segments #1 and #7 and #3 and #5 measure 16mm (L) x 12mm (W), with each segment containing a citrine measuring 7mm (L) x 5mm (W) x approx. 3mm (D) and two pearls of 2mm diameter. Segments #2 and #6 measure 25mm (L) x 25mm (W), with each segment containing a citrine measuring 12mm (L) x 9mm (W) x approx. 5mm (D) and six pearls measuring from 2.5mm to 4mm diameter. Segment #4 (centre piece) measures 27mm (L) x25 (W) and contains a citrine measuring 16mm (L) x 10mm (W) x 6mm (D) and six pearls ranging from 2.5mm to 4mm diameter. Finally, the clasp measures 18mm (L) x 18mm (W), with a citrine measuring 9mm (L) x 7mm (W) x approx. 4mm (D) and four pearls of 2mm diameter each. All citrines are oval cut and the gold is 14K (tested). The estimated total carat weight of all the citrines in the necklace is approx. 15CTW. Please see photos for more details.
