This is a very rare and very well made antique wrought iron loggerhead or mulling iron from an estate. This lovely beast was made circa 1740-80, give or take a few years. This loggerhead was made by a very skilled blacksmith, probably for a Tavern. This loggerhead was carefully designed so that you could use both ends, the narrow end for glassed & mugs, the ball end for pitchers. The blacksmith spent extra time making this nice to look at as well as functional, we have never seen a nicer one, anywhere. The loggerhead measures 26\" long and it weighs 1 pound, 10 ounces.
