Although suffering fromwounds participated inMorgan\'s Ohio raid. Escaped capture and commanded a brigade of Cavalry during retreat form Dalton, GA.Subsequently appointed Inspector General of Cavalry ofJohnston\'s Army until close of war.Appointed Chief of Staff to Major General Joe Wheeler, Jan 1863- Jan 14, 1865Postwar: State representative.Died Jan 12, 1877 in Lexington, KY.
