When man first employed flame to illuminate
his living spaces, the concept of a well appointed
interior was still thousands of years into the future.
By the year 1956, the Laurel Lamp Company was well
familiar with the concept and was turning out designs
intended to turn a living space into a well appointed interior.
Long gone were the whale oil lamps, candles and kerosene.
The electrical age brought light in cleaner, safer and more
abundant supply than ever before. A man could flip a switch
and provide the light of hundreds of candles - thousands if
he had some particular task at hand that
needed such illumination!
This Danish Modern lamp is absolutely gorgeous!
Laurel Lamp Company was busy importing Swedish Linens,
Walnut and Teaks for their lamps. This lamp uses solid
rosewood, teak and oiled walnut on the sinewy sculpted base.
It is the very definition of handcrafted quality in lamp design!
This lamp has a fresh socket & wiring and works perfectly.
It is in excellent condition. Very slight wear to the base
near the bottom. Shade shows only slight wear and looks great!
This lamp is a symphony of line and texture
and the eye travels along its curves and lingers
on the textural beauty of wood, metal and cloth.
Laurel Lamps were some of the most expensive lamps
of their day. The imported woods and mathematically graceful
designs were coveted then - and even more now
among those whose minds appreciate the value of
