Very Rare, Very Striking Antique Purple Patchwork Quilt Top, From Massachusetts Estate, NAMED & DATED 1904

DESCRIPTION: A particularly nice, scarce antique patchwork quilt top, dated 1904. Very COLORFUL & BOLD, with blocks of purple fabrics. Blocks are all hand stitched. A WONDERFUL PATTERN, WITH. A VERY STRIKING APPEARANCE.

This is a particularly colorful and bright quilt top for 1904!!

This is particularly rare as SEVERAL OF THE BLOCKS have HAND-STITCHED NAMES AND THE DATE 1904. There are 10 names, 5 male and 5 female. A church project? Members of the same family? A project worked on by several young couples or boyfriends/girlfriends? Names include Frank, Emma, Willie, Edward, Louisa, Nellie, Clara, Walter, and Fannie, etc. Great names, typical for 1904!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY, YOU DO NOT SEE TOO MANY QUILTS PERSONALIZED WITH NAMES & DATED!!! One of the nicest ones from my collection.

In very good condition overall as shown. A couple of small edge rips on one edge that can be repaired. I have notlaundered this and keep my quilts just as they came from the old house. Obviously, the buyer can wash or clean if desired. This is a great looking, VERY STRIKING quilt top for display, ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIKE PURPLE!!! Can be used on a bed, to complete the quilt, orfor background for a period collection. Could also be used as a copy pattern for another one, or possibly simply use it as antique material for craft or cut-up work/projects.

Measures approximately 56\" x 74\". THIS HAS BEEN PART OF MY PERSONAL COLLECTION AND CAME OUT OF AMASSACHUSETTS ESTATE. A NICE EARLY QUILT TOP, AND VERY SCARCE BEING NAMED & DATED!!!
