\"Dorothy O\'Hara was a popular California costume and fashion designer who, in the 1940\'s and \'50\'s, created fashionable dresses that accentuated the female figure. She worked as a movie costumer from 1945-1947 at Paramount Studios before starting her own line of high-quality fashions sold at better stores which were prized by socialites and celebrities alike. Today, her creations are still prized and highly-collectible.\"O\'Hara had a special talent for draping clothes to be ultra figure-flattering and our dress is a perfect example of that. Her skillful seaming at the waistline makes this dress hang just-so. A plain, unadorned black O\'Hara dress from the \'50\'s isselling for $1,450 on the upscale site 1st Dibs. Ours is far more desirable!
This classy creation is black rayon crepe with dramatic, tropical yellow flowers dominating the bodice. An extra-long, sturdy metal back zipper makes it easy to step into -- another O\'Hara trademark.
Outsized shoulder pads under short sleeves enhances the illusion of a smaller waistline. The dress is in excellent condition. Even the shoulder pads look brand-new and were beautifully made. [See photo #8]
