- Here is a RARE and WONDERUL piece of vintage memorabilia for the Pfaltzgraff Pottery collector. This early decorated brass paper holder or paper clamp measures 2 ½” x 2 ½” – the condition is extraordinary. I have seen two of these sell over the years and both had considerable loss to the red painted flower pot – the colorful central image and the spot where your eye goes first. This example is near mint – a few very minor flecks but overall the decoration and detail is superb – the ornate gold lettering and all other gold details are very fine. I’m not sure how old this piece is – the company was founded way back in 1811 and the first factory was erected in 1895. From other similar paper holders I have seen and the style and quality, I believe this is early 20th Century, perhaps as much as 100 or more years old - Pfaltzgraff was started in the early 19th Century.
